BBQ Sauce-Clean eating style

Clean BBQ Sauce


In our sculpt class we were discussing clean eating and how
most BBQ sauces have HFCS in them. BOOO.
This is a recipe that we use. It uses molasses or dark Agave
nectar for sweetening.


  • 2 tbsp. canola oil
  • 1 small white onion, diced small
  • 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 can (6 oz.) tomato paste
  • 2 tsp. ground mustard
  • 1 can (28 oz.) tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup unsulfured molasses (you can substitute this with dark agave nectar)
  • 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tbsp. white vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. ground pepper


  1. In a medium saucepan, heat canola oil over medium heat.  Add diced onion and cook until completely soft, approximately 5 minutes.  Add garlic and cook about 1 minute.
  2. Add the tomato paste and mustard.  Stirring constantly, cook until paste turns a bright red in color, approximately 5 minutes.  Add 2 cups water, tomato sauce, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, salt and pepper.  Stir until smooth.
  3. Bring mixture to a simmer, reduce heat to low, and cover partially.  Stirring occasionally, simmer for 2 hours.  You can thin the sauce down with water if it becomes too thick.  Add more vinegar, salt and/or pepper to taste (if desired).
  4. Let completely cool before using.

Note:  Can be refrigerated up to 1 week or frozen up to 4 months.

A. M. & D : big smiles


Our Weight Busters team WDMA (We Don't Mess Around) is
really kicking butt in this competition.

At the 6 week mark we are in second place but closing in on first at warp speed.
Our stats so far are

Team members: 6
Total weight lost to date: 59.9 pounds
Total inches lost to date: 76.5 inches
Total % of body fat lost 12.3 %

We have consistently lost weight each week.
These people really don't mess around!

Week 5 Confidence Course

Our Weight Buster's team rocked the Confidence Course in our workout. We set up the gear and timed them. After all was said and done, A. was the winner by completing the course in 21 seconds. M. kills on the course.. watch out for that last hop over! A. Blows the team away with her speed. The Rockstar takes the course!

Weight Busters team Training

Our gym offers a Biggest Loser style program called Weight Busters. It's much like the TV show except that no one gets voted off. The teams train together at least 3 times a week and are weighed in weekly. At the end of 16 weeks, we'll have a winning team and an overall winner.

The big winners are my team "W.D.M.A" which means "We Don't Mess Around."
This group is a collective machine. They work together like champs and
no one works harder!

This week was a banner week for the team. We had a 14 pound weight loss.
Everyone lost weight.

While I can't divulge all our training secrets, I can give you a peek into
our last training session with 3 of our team.

These people inspire me because they keep returning for the beatings.
Driven doesn't even begin to describe our team!

A. & D. working with the Airope for killer core. I added the hip bridge with the ball for an extra challenge.

This is a really wonderful, candid video clip from Chalene Johnson, the creator of Turbo Jam. I think she has some great insight on taking control of our eating. This is a real struggle for many people and a day to day challenge for me as well. What is your strategy for keeping your eating in control?
